Here are some of Al's long term visions for the Finca:

1. Within 5 years, little to no additional inputs into the farm...truly self-sustaining
2. All systems to last 25 years minimum
3. Construction materials to last 50+ years and/or be replaceable with on site or nearby materials - i.e. thatch/bamboo
4. Materials to be long lasting, local, low energy/pollution to produce, replaceable/bio-degradable
5. Recycle gray water for irrigation
6. Water storage for pool - rainwater in cistern for the rainy season
7. All food on site if needed - several veggie plots as well as sources for protein, specifically: fish/chicken/turkeys/sheep/goats
8. Solar Water - thermo siphen to move water to houses and community center
9. Solar cookers/dehydrators for preserving and drying food
10. Methane gas to cook from decomposing compost - can capture in sealed barrels with compost inside through a stem valve
11. Use as few batteries as possible
12. Combo solar/wind/hydro power
13. Identify and begin maintenance coatings for wood and thatch, form pesticides for gardens that we can make on site.
14. Preserve fruits and veggies when they come en mass (ie. mangoes) and make food products with our name on them (labels explaining FLB)
15. Press/heat separate veggie oil from wild palm fruit/nuts. Shared electric vehicles that plug into solar banks at villas and cc. to charge during daylight hours.

This is truly attainable. Confidence is key, optimism a must.
